God Is Going to Make Everything New
All of us wonder why there is pain in the world. We struggle with questions like, “Why would a good God allow so much suffering?” When we ask that question, what we’re effectively saying is, “Why doesn’t God do something?” We struggle to understand why He doesn’t step in and put an end to human suffering once and for all.
The reality is that He is going to do that very thing. One day, He will physically step back into the scene. He is going to put His foot on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem, and begin the process of restoring earth to its former glory and perfection. The Bible describes the future earth this way:
Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!”(Revelation 21:1-5 NIV)
No more tears. No more pain.
The world that we all long for is coming.
It’s on the way.
The Most Important Question
The big question is: Will you be part of that new world?
In order to be part of that new world, we must receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. There will be pleasures beyond anything we can imagine in that new world. In fact, one of the first things we will experience there is a huge party called the Wedding Feast of the Lamb. There will be wine, music, dancing, celebration, and immense joy.
But there will not be any rebellion against God.
The only people who will be in God’s new world will be the ones who chose to love Him and give their lives to Him. Just like Jesus asked His disciples, “Who do you say that I am?” we must all answer that same question.
Who Is Jesus?
God the Father sent His One and Only Son, Jesus Christ, to this imperfect world to redeem us and restore us into a free and open relationship with Himself. Because humankind had sinned, our relationship with God was broken. Severed. And we were under the penalty of sin, which is punishment and death.
Instead of leaving us to suffer those penalties, Jesus decided to take our place. He took our punishment for us by dying a gruesome death on the cross. Jesus was then buried, and on the third day, He was resurrected into eternal life. He defeated death and the grave, and that means we can now freely receive forgiveness for all of our sins.
God’s Offer to Everyone
Eternal life with God in His perfect world is offered to all of us.
If we choose to reject this offer, that means we are choosing sin over God. We are choosing to stay in rebellion toward Him. This will be the result for those who choose to stay in rebellion toward God:
“But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”(Revelation 21:8 NIV)
When presented with options in life, we all want to make the best decision. We weigh all of our important decisions, and we choose carefully.
You can make the right choice today. At this very moment, you are being given the option to end your rebellion toward God, turn away from sin, and choose to receive His forgiveness. You can choose right now to receive Christ as Savior.
A Prayer for Salvation
Here is a model prayer you can pray right now in order to receive Christ as Savior:
God, I want to live in Heaven with you forever. I do not want to live in sin and rebellion. No human being is perfect, including me. I have done things that you say are wrong. Please forgive me of all my sins, and please give me a new life with you. I now receive Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
Thank you, God, for saving me!
